Our Summer Home Tour 2017

Welcome friends, and thank you for stopping in to check out our home!
I'm thrilled to be part of the 2017 Summer Home Tour hosted by Marty @
A Stroll Thru Life, a big thank you to her for organizing 30 bloggers to share their homes
this week. If you're stopping by from Christy's @ Our Southern Home, I'm sure you
 enjoyed her beautiful home!

If you're new here I live in Denver and share our 1938 cottage style home with
Mr. Simple, our teenage son and spoiled fur babies. Come in and take a peek.

Living Room

I'm still smitten with our blush paint and kept it pretty simple by changing out some
artwork and accessories for summer, and of course, bringing in lots of greenery from
our yard.

I like adding something a little edgy to keep the pink paint from looking too sweet.
The bold tribal pillow with a black leather pattern is perfectly unexpected. I found

I have an addiction to fun chairs and have quite the collection, but always fall back
to bringing these unique cane chairs back in for summer. I love the contrast against the
smooth white campaign chest.

Dining Room

Surprise! I'd mentioned a few times that the green paint in our dining room was fun for
awhile, but I was ready for a change. At certain times of day it looked neon with the bright
southern exposure and I'd walk by and cringe! I chose the same Benjamin Moore Queen Anne,
as I have in the living room and it feels SO much better!

I found the chippendale style chairs on Craigslist awhile back and still haven't
decided whether or not to paint them, which is keeping me from reupholstering the seats.
I love the wood, but wonder if it would be prettier if there were more contrast with
the table. What do you guys think?

These small boxwoods were a steal from Walmart's garden section last summer.
I brought them in for the winter and they're still going strong. I trimmed them up
to get a more topiary form.

My favorite time of day, early evening when the sun is shining through our
french doors the blush paint takes on a pretty glow.

Family Room

I think we should have a challenge - can anyone do a home tour without adding a new
pillow?!! Haha! A super simple pillow change up and that's it for our family room.
One day when I was cruising through Hobby Lobby I noticed the zebra print fabric on the
clearance rack for a crazy price and made the pillows. The blush pillows are from Home Goods
and are the perfect pieces to bring the color into our family room.

We're still big fans of our basics - the IKEA Ektorp sectional, and sisal rug
from World Market.

Thanks again for popping by everyone! Hope you have a fabulous summer!
Next up on the tour is Haneen's Haven, if you don't know her, she has a fun, vibrant
style you'll love. And, if you ever need a laugh to start your day check out her
Instagram Stories - she cracks me up!

My Five Favorites ~ Gadgets I Love

Hi friends, sorry I've been MIA, we've had some fun happenings
around here lately, I'll fill you in on what I've been up to next week. In the meantime,
it's time for another My Five Favorites, this month my pals and I are dishing on our
favorite gadgets. To be honest, I'm not much of a gadget girl, it has to be pretty good to
take up space in my house. I'm anxious to check out my friends' favs.

Jennifer @ Dimples & Tangles

I'm so excited to introduce our guest this month, when I first discovered the world of blogs,
Sarah @ Thrifty Decor Chick was one of the first I read. I couldn't wait for her posts,
she was funny, down to earth, and had awesome DIY skills. I was hooked big time!
All these years later and I still love following along with all the updates to her charming
 home and yard.

Thrifty Decor Chick

Ok, back to the gadgets...

#1 - Apple Peeler/Corer

I've had mine for probably 20 years, it makes baking apple pies super quick and easy, and
it's a fun toy that encourages everyone to help. :)
Mine is heavy duty cast iron from Ace Hardware $23.99, but I recently saw this similar
smaller version at World Market for $9.99

#2 - Clip and Drain

One day while I was in Sur La Table I overheard a lady telling her friend how great this
clip on colander was, after they left I asked the sales person about it and she said they sell a
ton of them. It's not large but she said it worked great even on large stock pots of potatoes or pasta...and it does!!!

#3 - Paint Pouring Spout

I'm a little OCD when it comes to painting, I like all my tools neat and clean. :)
This plastic spout fits on the top of your paint can and keeps the paint from running down
the sides and collecting in the rim at the top of the can.
It cleans up easily, you can find it at Ace Hardware $2.59

See that clean paint free rim!

#4 - Sisal Body Brush

I know this is a stretch for the gadget category, but it's a good one!
My sweet friend has worked at Anthropologie for years, she received this body brush at an
Anthro Favorite Things Christmas Party from another employee.
It can be used wet in the shower or dry before showering, I like to use it dry over my
entire body. It's the best exfoliator and only $10.00 at Anthropologie.
It also makes a great girlfriend gift paired with one of their cleansers.

#5 - Clarisonic

This is probably my all time favorite gadget - I've had it forever, it's one of the originals,
and still works perfectly, I just replace the heads as needed. It always gets rave reviews
online and I'm right in there with 5 stars! Several different options are available now,
 mine was from Nordstrom.

Be sure and check out these talented friends' favs:
